As CEO, my job is to oversee the long term strategy for the company, our governance structures/processes and the overall culture of the company.
When I took over as Managing Director I formed the Employee Committee as a means of ensuring that the employees of the company had a voice and a say in how their organisation is run. One of my aims was also to ensure that staff in the company would have access to me, to raise concerns if need be.
After serving seven years in the Royal Navy, I left to work as a Support Worker in children’s homes. After a few years I went on to study social work, working for two local authorities as a Social Worker, later managing homes, and for a time our foster care agency, before becoming a Company Director. I fostered five children (at different times) through a local authority – and have one adopted son. My fiancée gave birth to my first biological child in Jan 2021.
I joined Fair Ways and the Hub team in 2020 as the first OT in the team. I have been training since then and now qualified as a Sensory Integration Practitioner. I absolutely love my role as I get to work across all the Fair Ways settings assessing, writing and implementing sensory programs for all the young people that have sensory differences.
I feel very privileged to be able to work with the young people to help them develop a better understanding of themselves and their needs and to use strategies to enable them to participate fully in all areas of their life.
I love spending time with my family and have two teenagers of my own. I like “trying” to keep fit doing yoga, paddle boarding and walking. I am pleased to be part of the Employee committee and feel it is a great opportunity to be involved in the company more and to voice the opinions and concerns of my team.
I joined Fair Ways in April 2020 as the Head of HR. Having achieved (a long time ago may I add) a CACHE Level 3 in Childcare and Education and working with children with varying emotional and educational needs, I then decided to move into the wonderful world of HR over 15 years ago and I truly love what I do. My role within the committee is to encourage innovation, promote our values and work with the team to continue pushing towards making Fair Ways the best place to work.
I am a mum to Marley, Jools and Margaux. I love to read and listen to podcasts that challenge my thinking. I’m an advocate for positive change and love working for an organisation that really does put people first.
I started working with Fair Ways in 2019 as a Support Worker in Outreach. I previously worked in education, doing outdoor education for 12 years. I choose to join Fair Ways as my children had all left school and I wanted the flexibility to have holidays during the term times and was looking for a role that included being out and about and still making a difference to people and continue with the skills and knowledge I had gained while I was teaching in education.
I joined the Employee Committee to develop myself and to get more of an insight into the whole company and become a voice for Outreach.
In my spare time, my passion is football and I love to watch Southampton - I have a season ticket and enjoy going to several away games with my son. I enjoy spending time with family and have recently become a grandad for the first time.
I am the Bank Worker Engagement Lead and support all Bank Workers in their role; promoting wellbeing and inclusion within the company.
I joined Fair Ways in 2015 as a Support Worker within the Family Centre so have experience as a front-line worker. I wanted to take on this role as I’m passionate about supporting staff to utilise their skills across the company to help make a difference to young lives and families. This year, I’m also involved in a domestic abuse training programme to raise awareness throughout Fair Ways.
The committee is a platform to showcase the diversity and wealth of knowledge throughout Fair Ways. I hope through the committee all staff will be kept fully informed of all the great work achieved within Fair Ways, as it’s a real team effort that needs to be broadcasted!
Outside of work I’m married with 3 amazing children, 2 hectic dogs and love nothing more than spending time with them all!
I have been teaching for over thirty years with over half of that time with young people who have SEN. For the last eight years, I have been teaching in SEMH school settings.
I have been working for Fair Ways for just over two years in Education where I teach construction. I am also lucky enough to teach young people from both schools in the Fort Wallington workshop. What I love most about my job is helping young people to enjoy making objects that they are proud of. When I am not working I am most probably riding one of my many bicycles.
I served 10 years in the Army and left in 2016, and wasn’t sure of what world I would be stepping into. I have been working at Fair Ways for 2 and a half years, I started off working in residential family services and have since moved onto being a multi-site worker. Travelling to sites across Fair Ways is something that I enjoy as working with the Young People and supporting them through their journey is always a pleasure and a privilege. Encouraging them to reach their goals and work through their difficulty is rewarding in itself.
The reason I joined Fair Ways was because I really resonated with the ethics and values that Fair Ways represent, especially playing your PART. I am really passionate about being part of a trauma informed company through the use of RiiSE training and coaching and advocated for myself to be a RiiSE coach. Something that I enjoy is to challenge and widen perspective to ensure that good practice can be maintained and improved upon.
Outside of work, I spend my time being a Father, reading, writing and volunteering in my local community for a charity. I enjoy photography and collect vinyl records.
I joined Fairways in May 2021 as a Support Worker in supported living. I have since progressed to become a Senior Support Worker and I was given the opportunity to expand my skill set and become a member of the Employee Committee.
Previously I worked as a Residential Support Worker with young people, where I was able to achieve my Level 3 in Residential Childcare. I decided to explore a different avenue and joined Fair Ways, and can honestly say that this was a change that I am glad I made. Since working with Fair Ways I have had the opportunity to work alongside some very knowledgeable individuals and felt welcomed by everyone that I have met regardless of their role within the company. I have also had the opportunity to work with some truly amazing young people.
When I am not working, I usually spend time with my children, running them around to take part in their different activities. I love watching them grow into amazing individuals. Wherever I am, you will usually find me singing along to music (which I think I do very well!)
I work at Garden house as a RSW. I have worked in residential childcare for 4 years and it’s something I have wanted to do since I was younger. I have completed my Level 3 in residential childcare and will finish my L4 by October 2023. I love spending time with my friends and family especially going out for dinner, travel, theme parks and cinema - my late father called me his social butterfly. I’m a TV and movie buff and my all time favourites being Lord of the Rings and Stranger Things.
I joined Fair Ways in September 2022 as a Deputy Manager at one of the health services. I was asked if I would join the EPIC committee - this was not something I had the opportunity to do in previous workplaces, so I was excited to be part of it.
Previously I had worked in Early Years for 15 years where I gained my Level 3 and 5 qualifications in Early Years and Health and social care, until I changed roles and managed wellbeing support and activities in a nursing home, I then worked in a residential service as a Deputy Manager for young people and adults with Autism before joining Fair Ways, hoping I could bring the skills that I had learnt along with me. I was also drawn to Fair Ways because of their values.
Since being at Fair Ways I have learnt so much, from my colleagues and the young people and have been given lots of training, learning and reflection opportunities. It’s lovely to be part of an organisation that has the people they support at the heart of what they do.
When I am not at Athelstan, I will almost definitely be cross stitching, reading, gaming, or having an adventure.
I joined Fair Ways in 2021 as a bank worker, in the residential homes and family centre. I was asked to take some shifts at Swanwick school and I never left the school.
I’ve now been a support worker in the school for almost 3 years and love it. I love working with the YP's helping them succeed in day-to-day life, helping them through their school years.
Outside of work I have 2 amazing children who keep me very busy. I spend every Saturday at my son's football matches. We love spending time together as a family, this is why working in a school helps me have good family work life balance. We love our holidays and spending time with friends and family.
I work at Fair Ways Residential Family Centre (RFC) since 2017. I love working with the RFC team as we all share similar passion for helping parents in their family journeys. I believe that a way of stopping the cycle of neglect in our society is to educate the parents and give them the skills to care for their children, because a child that is loved and nurtured will be a good person and a caring parent. I joined the EPIC to represent my team and make our voices heard within Fair Ways.
I am married and have two grown up sons, a dog and a cat. I love to spend time with my family, nature, playing music, travelling, walking, exploring, learning. Before having my children, I worked as a classical musician and played in a professional orchestra. Becoming a parent made me curious about the children’s development, the human brain and what makes us what we are. This led me to complete a Psychology degree, then to work in Early years settings, Mencap, Mind, Dementia Friendly Communities, Well-being services.
My colleagues at work know me as the one always chasing them to recycle, to put things in the correct bin, to turn off any unused lights, to print double-sided, save the trees, the insects and our planet.
I joined Fair Ways in as School Administrator for GLADE and I am now the GLADE EPIC and Health & Safety Rep. I have an NVQ 3 in Health and Social care, alongside years of knowledge in various care giving roles. I have two children myself: Zach 3 and Lilly 10. One who is diagnosed autistic and one who is awaiting an ASD assessment.
There’s nothing I enjoy more than making a difference and helping people, that’s why when I came across a job for Fair Ways, the ethos and values of the company really resonated with me, and it felt like a perfect fit. I joined EPIC to aid my growth and knowledge of Fair Ways, and I love the whole concept of it. I enjoy being a voice for my colleagues at GLADE and playing my part.
Everyone, in every industry, can suffer from mental illness. We are taking proactive steps to offer support, advice and guidance to those in Fair Ways who require help.
