Where and when do we need you?
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated, driven and enthusiastic Registered Manager to oversee our Residential Family Centre based in Southampton. The Family Centre are made up of a number of self-contained flats or pods, each with either their own bathroom and kitchen facilities or with appropriate shared facilities. Families will be referred to the Family Centre if there have been concerns identified around the safety of the children within their existing family unit. Once with us, the families will be continuously encouraged, assessed and guided through a 12 week stay where they are monitored 24/7 to encourage sustainable positive parenting changes.
This position focuses on leading a fantastic team, supporting the development of independent life skills within a therapeutic caring environment. The successful applicant will work onsite ensuring the delivery of continuous high-quality service and growth.
As a Registered Manager with Fair Ways you will deliver the highest standards of care and support to the individuals we care for through:
- Keeping vulnerable children and families safe – As the Registered Manager you will be managing any presenting safeguarding issues and overseeing the monitoring of good practice within the Family Centre, ensuring safe working practices.
- Managerial and Regulatory Responsibility – To ensure a high-quality service is delivered and maintained through effective managing the day to day running of the centre and ensuring oversight of the family assessments in accordance with relevant Ofsted National Minimum Standards and regulations. This ensures that all families always receive the highest levels of care and assessment outcomes.
- Budgetary and Occupancy monitoring – To ensure the Family Centre is sustainable, occupancy & budget targets are met and that the centre is appropriately resourced. To have oversight of the Family Centre staffing rotas ensuring appropriate staffing levels in line with occupancy levels and any associated risk.
- Assessment Oversight – To have oversight of the completion of the parenting assessments alongside the assessment team and deputy manager, ensuring these are of high quality, are fair, robust, and evidenced based and to monitor the families impact and risk assessment while in placement ensuring their safety and support needs are met at all times.
- Multi-Agency Working – To attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, court hearings and other forums to represent the Residential Family Centre. This will be achieved through confident communication, accurate evidencing and clear understanding of the final assessment report.
- Supporting and developing your team – To provide high quality supervision to any assigned direct reports and conduct appraisals in line with the Company appraisals process. To hold overall responsibility and accountability for the training and development of the team, overseeing the monitoring and completion alongside the training team to meet all core and regulatory required training standards.
- Operational Strategy and Development – To report to the responsible HOS on the performance of your service using relevant internal databases and systems, working groups and reporting methods, inclusive of H&S reports, HOS reports and internal audits related to safeguarding ensuring completion within the required time frames.
- Being a Trauma Informed professional – To provide trauma informed responses through the individualised use of RiiSE training to ensure those we care for are supported appropriately during times of crisis.
- Supporting positive lifestyle choices – To demonstrate the therapeutic importance of maintaining a clean, tidy and homely environment through effective role modelling, ensuring families are supported appropriately during times of crisis and that we demonstrate an understanding of the parents’ early life experiences, focusing on educating families to understand what is good and healthy for children and babies to grow and thrive.
The successful candidate will be working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways. Fair Ways are unable to provide VISA sponsorship for this role and all applicants will need to be able to provide evidence of right to work in the UK.

Management roles within our frontline services help achieve our mission of making a difference through passionate care, support, and education. To support this, you will be required to have a minimum of the following qualification levels:
Essential
- To hold or be happy to work towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership or equivalent degree.
- To have demonstrable experience and ability to lead and direct a team within a similar sector and continuously improve service delivery.
- To have a sound understanding of legislation relating to Child Protection, looked after children in the public sector as well as the Public Law Outline and Care proceedings and a good knowledge of legislation relating to Safeguarding Adults.
Desirable
- Degree Level Qualification in Social Work or a relevant subject
