Celebrate Easter
Easter is an amazing time. Life is suddenly filled with chocolate eggs, Easter bunnies and hopeful signs of new life; the ground bursting with new flowers, trees are emerging in epic colour and with spring comes the reminder that the dark winter doesn’t last forever.
Christians believe and remember an even greater hope still: that death is not the end. The life of Jesus, told in the New Testament accounts shows his radical love, compassion and goodness. Jesus was known as a ‘friend of sinners’ but the religious elite weren’t fans. Eventually he is executed on a Roman cross and buried on Good Friday and everything seems lost. The darkest winter has set in and the light of the world was gone. And yet, hope was stirring in the ground – three days later on that first Easter morning his followers discover his body is no longer in the grave. He is risen and he is alive! Christians across the world celebrate Easter as the most important turning point in history, as they believe Jesus’ resurrection shows God’s power over death but also his invitation to know this love personally for themselves.
